Setting Up X (Twitter) for Memorialization
- Understanding X’s Policies:

- The deceased person’s full name and X username (handle).
- A copy of the requester’s ID.
- A copy of the deceased person’s death certificate.
- The requester will need to provide the following:
- Process Confirmation:
- Once the request is submitted with the necessary documentation, X’s support team will review it and, if approved, proceed with the account deactivation.
Additional Considerations
- No Memorialization or Legacy Contact:
- X does not offer an option to memorialize accounts, meaning the account will be permanently deleted upon deactivation.
- Privacy and Content:
- Once the account is deactivated, all tweets, followers, and associated content are removed from the platform, ensuring the privacy of the deceased.
- No Access to Account Content:
- Unlike some other platforms, X does not allow family members or authorized individuals to access the deceased’s account content (such as tweets or direct messages) before deactivation.
