The laws haven't always kept up with the way we live, and partners are one area where the legal definition of a partner isn't perhaps what your would expect. But, as we mentioned previously, it's important to only include your legal partner in this section. 

For legal purposes, a partner is your spouse (by marriage) or a civil partner recognised under the Civil Partnership Act 2004. 

If you want to make a non-legally registered partner a beneficiary, simply add them to the 'Others' section.
