- Type the name of a Facebook friend you want to designate as your legacy contact.
- Notify Your Legacy Contact (Optional):
- Once you select a legacy contact, you can send them a message to inform them of your decision. This is optional, but it’s a good idea to ensure they are aware of their role.
- Specify Additional Permissions:
- You can allow your legacy contact to download a copy of what you've shared on Facebook, including posts, photos, and profile information.
- There is also an option to allow them to manage tribute posts on your profile.
- Review and Confirm:
- Review your selections, and once you’re satisfied, confirm the settings.
- Your legacy contact will be notified (unless you choose not to notify them immediately).
- Option to Delete Account After Death:
- If you prefer that your account be permanently deleted after your death, you can select the option Request that your account be deleted after you pass away within the Memorialization Settings.
Additional Considerations
- Changing or Removing Legacy Contact:
- You can change or remove your legacy contact at any time by returning to the Memorialization Settings.
- Memorialized Account Features:
- Your account will say “Remembering” next to your name once it’s memorialized.
- Your legacy contact cannot log into your account, post as you, or see your private messages.
