Message from the School

For over 150 years, Ravenscroft College has been a place where curiosity meets character. Founded in 1874 by pioneering educators who believed in the transformative power of education, Ravenscroft has grown from a small riverside schoolhouse into a vibrant community dedicated to academic excellence, confident citizenship, and lifelong friendship.

Here, generations of students have walked through oak-framed doors and gone on to make their mark across the arts, sciences, public service and business — united by a shared sense of purpose: not just to succeed, but to contribute.

At Ravenscroft, we believe that education is more than attainment; it’s a legacy. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our Legacy Giving Programme — an opportunity for past pupils, parents, staff and friends to support the future of the College by including Ravenscroft in their will. Through your thoughtful generosity, you’re not only honouring your own journey; you’re creating opportunities for generations of young learners yet to come.

Through our partnership with adeus, we can help protect your legacy, and that of your school.

The Old Ravens Society

The Old Ravens Society has been established as a means by which we can thank those who have left a gift in their will to the Foundation or made a transformative donation to our Bursary Fund. By confirming that you have made a bequest to the School, you will automatically become a member of The Old Ravens Society.

Members will receive invitations to College and Foundation events, as well as specific Society events, and should they wish to, be recognised on our Old Ravens Society Donor Wall.

Message from a Old Ravens Society Member

“Ravenscroft changed the course of my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined.”

I first arrived on campus as a nervous 11-year-old, unsure of who I would become. Over the years, I found mentors who believed in me, friends who became family, and challenges that shaped my confidence. The lessons I learned here — in empathy, resilience and curiosity — have stayed with me throughout my life.

When I was invited to join the Legacy Giving Programme, it felt like a meaningful way to say thank you. By including Ravenscroft in my will, I’m able to give back to the place that gave me so much — ensuring future students have the same chance to flourish.

Ravenscroft will always be part of my story. I’m proud to help write the next chapter for others.

— Alistair Carmichael (Class of ’92)

How do I leave a gift in my will?

As a registered charity, any gift to the school is tax-free, and could also reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax paid on the rest of your estate.

In an adeus Will you can leave:

  • Pecuniary: a specific sum of money.
  • Specific Gift: A non-cash bequest.
  • Residuary: A specific share of your estate.

You will be prompted at the relevant stages of the will creation process if you would like to leave a gift. The school name, address and registered charity number will be pre-populated, simply enter in the monetary amount, item description, or percentage in the relevant field, adeus will take care of the rest.

Upon completion of a Will by a Ravenscroft College Community Member, adeus may include the name of the Community Member and certain terms and form of a specific Will in the Report that is disclosed to the School. To the extent that a Community Member informs adeus that it does not consent to such sharing of its personal data and/or the information of a Will, adeus shall only share anonymized and aggregated data with the School, and no personal or specific information regarding the will.
